Start a Revolution
Ten tips to turn your website into a powersite.

Since it is that time of year to make empty Resolutions, why not change something and start a Revolution on your website. What do we mean? Do the following ten things and not only will your website do better, but it will explode with visitors and ultimately profits.

R--EAL PEOPLE
The most important thing to remember is that although we cannot "see" our customers we need to treat them like they are real. Many times people think that the internet gives you the chance to treat people as if there are no consequences to your behavior ... well guess what, that doesn't do your internet business any good. The great thing about the internet is that no matter how small you are, you can have a website just as great as the big boys. The thing that we need to do to set us apart is to focus on our customer service and satisfaction. A satisfied customer will tell others and this is the cheapest and BEST form of advertising. On the other hand, if you give poor customer service then your customer will tell his friends and they will tell theirs....

E - THE SEARCH ENGINES.
Getting listed well (i.e. not on the 300th page) is vital to your website . How do you get listed well within the search engines? Books have been written on this topic and the thing to remember is that the playing field is always changing because the engines are constantly changing their rules. One week you may have a high listing and the next week be booted to the hundredth page. Two tips I can give are: (1) Be persistent. Add your URL to the top engines at least monthly and (2) having a quality website is more effective than the key words in your meta-tags. As the search engines continue in their quest for quality links, the content of your website will continue to have more weight than having the correct key words.

V--ALUE
Give your visitors a reason for visiting and they will keep coming back. Offer the visitor something free. At our website we offer a free logo, in return they let us email them our ezine, this has allowed our ezine to grow from 50 subscribers to over 3,500 in less than year..and we are now growing at the rate of 100 a week. Having a freebie on your site will also let you link with FREE sites on the web. This will bring an immediate increase in traffic to your site.

O--PT-IN EMAIL
An email address is gold. With it you can advertise to the same person again and again for free (or almost free). Just remember that since they are gold, respect the persons privacy and their privilege to remove themselves from your list,. If you like to write why not start an ezine, this allows you to advertise to folks eager to read about your product or service. What can the ezine be about...anything you have an expertise in would be a great place to start.

L--INKS
Even better than search engines are links . Think about sites that are similar or complement your site. How do you get them to link to you? Ask. Send the webmaster a polite email explaining about your website and that you visited their site and you liked this and this (which separates you better from Spam). Nine times out of ten if your website would compliment theirs you will get a link. The great thing about links is that many of them will send you a visitor or two per month, but now and again you will find a gold-mine that will increase traffic to your site by hundreds of visitors per month.

U--TILIZE YOUR STRENGTHS
Don't try to be everything to everybody. You and your site will do much better if you focus on one thing and do it well. This will also give your website added value. People will also value the information on your site more if you seem to know what you are talking about.

T--EST EVERYTHING
Testing is vital and easy to do on the web. Tracking your ads is as simple as adding a number to the end of your page. Even if your page or ad is doing well, try some new and different things with it and you never know you may be surprised with the results.

I--NVEST IN YOURSELF
Spend some of your profits to advertise and to promote your site. As your web business grows this amount should also increase as well. As always test it first. If the deal doesn't work, search for a different one. Sooner or later you will find one that you like and gives you a profitable return on your investment.

O--FF-LINE MARKETING
Make sure that all of your print media has your URL on it. Also, ensure that your print ads, television spots, etc, has a URL. Otherwise you are missing a valuable opportunity. This magazine is an excellent example of how to do some great Off line marketing.

N--EVER QUIT
Persistence pays off. If one technique doesn't work, then try a different approach. Learn from your mistakes (which you will make if you ever try something new) and try again. Here is wishing you and yours a very profitable New Year.

So reviewing quickly--
