Coverlets weave their way into GermantownFamily Heirloom Weavers of Pennsylvania recently designed a child’s Jacquard coverlet for The Guest House Folk Art Gallery. The design is a traditional, mid-19th Century pattern from coverlets found in the Pennsylvania region and recreated for Germantown, Ohio, 1804, Bicentennial celebration in just over two years. Weavers, David and Patrick Kline of Red Lion, PA, use only natural fibers, wool and cotton in their coverlets. They maintain the integrity of their artistry through research and discovery. There are several designs from which to choose, and all sizes are available, but must be ordered individually. Trying to Make Scents of the Coming HolidaysThe Guest House Folk Art Gallery found two wonderful companies this past year that have made buying candles and potpourri seem effortless, Warm Glow, a candle company in Richmond, Indiana, and Just Browsing, a great scents company in Corfu, New York. The Warm Glow Candle Company made three very special cake candles called Country Spice, Caramel Corn, and Green Apple Orchard. They not only send your senses reeling into an autumn memory, but they look great in any décor. The Just Browsing scents are reminiscent of the inside of an apple pie! The Homespun Gatherings is a bag of blended, chunky botanicals with different exotic dried “things,” such as artichokes; pomegranates, Indian corn or lotus pods seeped in cinnamon. Christmas candles and potpourri are just as heavenly. They’ll be on sale in the gallery by October 15!
