Built in 1802, the mill was originally called Davis Mill by it's founder Owen Davis. The Clifton Mill was built in this location to take advantage of the natural power of the concentrated water funneled into the gorge. The tiny village of Clifton was laid out around the milling industry. The Little Miami river that powers the Clifton Mill today, once powered 5 other mills that were built within a mile of the Clifton Mill. These mills included a linen mill, saw mill, paper mill, cork/barrel mill and more. The Clifton Mill is the only one still standing. Date: 1-5-2002

Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, it is still in use today to grind cornmeal, whole wheat flour, rye flour, and pancake mixes. The mill and the buhr stones are powered by water. Self-guided tours may be taken during normal business hours. Date: 1-7-2002
